Broadcom LSI 9305-16i 12Gbps SAS-3 PCIe x8 HBA P16 IT mode. Listed for sale is a Broadcom LSI 9305-16i HBA SAS controller card. It is fully updated to Avago / LSI 9305-16i IT (Initiator Target) mode firmware version P16 (specifically 16.00.12.00).

I also flashed the LSI/Avago MPTSAS3 BIOS ROM version 08.37.02.00 and UEFI 18.00.03.00 so that it is easier to access the controller's ROM without booting an OS. LSI IT mode firmware version P16 (16.00.12.00).

MPTSAS3 BIOS ROM flashed version 08.37.02.00. MPTSAS3 UEFI ROM flashed version 18.00.03.00. Original SAS address preserved in flash. Original Board Tracer Number preserved in flash. Original Board Assembly preserved in flash.

BOTH full and low profile bracket included. Requires SFF-8643 cables which are not included.

These are based on the LSI SAS3224 SAS controller chipset and support 12Gbps SAS-3 storage devices. It uses a PCI-E 3.0 connection with x8 lanes.

The controller has 4 SFF-8643 connectors, each carrying 4x 12Gbps SAS lanes. CAUTION#1 : Please note this card is a high performance card and runs hot.

You must install it with plenty of airflow over its heatsink. Improper cooling can cause failure and poor reliability. These cards are fully tested in my Supermicro server running ZFS on Linux (ZoL), but this setup is also ideal for other ZFS setups, FreeNAS, unRAID, Proxmox VE, etc. I have fully tested them using all 16 SAS lanes.
