Actual brand and model will vary according to availability for selected capacity and may be any PCIe G3 x4 NVME. Thanks to falling SSD prices we are now able to offer owners of the 2013 to 2017 Macs using the 12+16 pin PCIe SSD connector a great upgrade and repair path. By using an adapter card to conform to the proprietary Apple logic board socket pinout and size we can offer fully compatible PCIe SSD solutions a fraction of the cost of the original Apple SSD upgrades, often enabling much higher transfer speeds via NVME and x4 channel data paths. See the photos in the listing for the SSD card Pin layout of our new replacements.

Our SSD upgrade range includes a choice of 240, 480 or 960 GB SSDs (see note on capacity below) from one of the leading companies in SSD technology. All the SSDs are new and ready formatted for your Mac/Macbook. SSDs increase durability in case of accidental knocks and reduces power consumption - ideal for laptops.

We offer our usual outstanding pre- and post-sales support on all these replacement SSDs. We also offer this upgrade as an external enclosure based option which avoids any plug compatibility issues and avoids the need to open up your Mac. For Macs with USB3.0 ports and better the transfer speed will be equal to or better than an internal SATA based SSD (see Amorphous Diskmark stats in photo from a USB3.0 MacBook Pro installation).

USB 3.1 or USB-C/Thunderbolt ports will at least double this performance. Available capacity will vary slightly from these figures. To make the installation simple even if your existing SSD has failed or has no system we pre-install a Bootable system recovery utility on a small partition before dispatch. (please select which OSX version you require to use on your SSD from the drop down menu to ensure the boot system and format is compatible).

This enables you to select the SSD as the startup device by holding down Option (Alt) on restart. Then you can use the included recovery utility to restore from your backup, connect to the internet and re-install the OSX system onto your Mac's new SSD.

Note that for compatibility with NVME drive protocols your Mac must have been upgraded to High Sierra unless it already uses NVME SSDs. The item "Upgrade Macbook/Pro/Air 2013-17 PCIe SSD card.
